Before you get started finding out about the new school year, check this out, "Ancient city survived as civilizations collapsed!" Even though we won't be studying ancient history this year, it is an interesting story about how historians and archeologists try to solve mysteries of the past. You can navigate the website through the tabs above. Each tab is a page with the subpages opening below the tab. Just click on the page or subpage you wish to access. Sometimes the embedded games will block the submenu, just click on the home page and you will be able to see the submenus again. You will be able to find information about classroom notes, policies, homework, langauge arts and history games, projects, important dates, lesson specific videos, and links to my favorite websites. If you want to check your students grades you can check grades through Aries. Weekly grades should be up to date by the following Monday. Classroom notes are posted on the website in a blog format. Students will be able to comment on the notes for extra credit. The comments must be related to the notes and may include questions to extend understanding. I am very excited to teach seventh grade language arts and history this year. While there is not a CST for seventh grade history, students will be tested on the content in eighth grade. The eighth grade test will include material from both sixth and seventh grades, so we will continue to review sixth grade material. We will be reading a variety of novels this year for language arts as well as primary source materials from the medieval period of history. Please link to the language arts and social studies standards. Occasionally check with your student and see what standards they have covered. History review games are made using our text series. Duggan, Rena, et. al. History Alive, The Medieval World and Beyond. Palo Alto, CA: Teacher's Curriculum Institute, 2005. Print. Sixth grade links and games are now on the Pinon Mesa Academics Site. Even if you are not in my class, I have some interesting links under the educational websites, games and polls. Have a great year. Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to add to the site. | Homework1/15 to 1/27
