Peaceful Ed Tech
Bring Peace to Your Ed Tech
Finding Peace with Ed Tech
Welcome to the new revised site for www.mrspeace.com. If you are here, you know I have neglected this site for far too long, but I hope to rebuild it for my new position. I have moved from the classroom to coaching teachers in educational technology. There are a million edtech sites for teachers in the world that are far better than anything I could create or attempt. The purpose of this site is to provide beginner tech tutorials and tools for teachers, students, and parents. I want to make life easier for those who are not natural "techies." I promise this site will never be monetized, unless I lose my job and need to side hustle!
Teachers, I hope I never lose site of what it is like to be in the classroom. It is the hardest job I have every known, and I miss it desperately sometimes. These tutorials are for the teachers that are overwhelmed and are completely freaked out by technology. I will never assume you know it because it isn't fair when we do that to kids either. Parents, I am one of you too. I have two elementary school kids, and with the advent of distance learning I learned what it was like to be a parent in this world. I was incredibly fortunate and had my mother take over distance learning for my children. She left the classroom 12 years ago where she was one of the best teachers that I have ever known. I watched her struggle with things that I found so simple. She knows how to use technology, but I soon learned edtech was something else completely. My mother would flounder when I told her to go to my daughter's email to get the day's schedule. Spoiler, me yelling, "It's in the waffle," was deemed not helpful. I will remember that as I provide tutorials for you. Students, I am also never going to assume you know everything. Yes, you have a mean Snapchat game and your TikTok's slap, but navigating your school's learning management system can be a nightmare. I will show you the basics, but I do not know everything either. I am sarcastic and will make silly jokes as I work. I will go slow, and I hope I will provide a service to you, if anyone actually visits. |
